TIPS FOR SELLING A CAR
When selling a car through an auction house, the vendor
is required to provide proof of ownership, plus any necessary safety or
roadworthy certificate which may be required under state regulations.
The charges applied by auction houses for selling your
vehicle vary from company to company and from State to State. Shop around
is the best advice. As a general rule of thumb, most auctioneers will charge
an "entry fee" for each vehicle entered in the auction (although
some advertise zero sale no fee¹) plus a commission on sales made.
The entry fee can be as low as $50 - $110.
Commission rates could be based on a sliding scale encompassing
5 to 6 per cent of the sale price, or a flat fee ranging from $220 to $350
on lower priced vehicles. Most auction houses will also conduct a clear
title search and pass the cost onto the seller, normally around $30.
